The Garment of Life

Young children were often dressed in a garment known as Tshegho or the “garment of life”. Such garments were made from pieces of clothes given by the older people who had survived their childhood and were living to an advanced age. Thus, a Tshegho was a gift of long life given by the old to the young.”
